What are pillar pictures?
Sharla Dance
Pillar pictures refer to the 3 main “pillars” of this song: Nephi, Army of Helaman, and the Lord’s Missionaries.

I’m so grateful to you, every Sunday!! I’ve seen the kids light up as they sing with all the movement we do. I’m curious what Sheild, Bow and Name tag is? That sound right up our alley!
Sharla Dance
In this song, we talk about three examples 1. Nephi (bow and arrow story), 2. Army of Helaman (shields), and 3. Our missionary army (name tag). As I sing this song, the children come to some long banquet tables where they are coloring a shield or a name tag (already cut out for them) or stringing a tiny bow with string as I sing the song 4 times. When I’m done singing, they come back to their chairs (some children will want more time… they are allowed to finish later). I then ask the children to hold up their bow if they hear something about Nephi, hold up their shield if they hear something about Army of Helaman, or hold up their name tags if they hear something about the Lord’s missionaries.
Thanks for asking!

Clap, slap and word freeze sounds fun. How does it work? Thanks for the ideas!!

What is Slap Clap and Word Freeze?
Sharla Dance
Slap clap is a complicated lap clapping pattern for 3/4 patterns. I know there are several videos that have it demonstrated. I will try to get a video of it up with this post.

I’m planning on starting to teach this song this Sunday (virtually). If you have time to finish up explaining these ideas, I’d love to finalize my plans. If not, that’s okay too. 🙂
Thanks for all the wonderful ideas you have on your blog. I love to use this as a first resource!
