I’m really enjoying the singing times you’re posting on YouTube. I have a question about “I Thank Thee, Dear Father.” I noticed that on the phrase “home, friends and parents so dear” that you occasionally sing “family” instead of “parents.” I can’t help but wonder if this is a change you’ve made personally to accommodate different family situations, or if it is one of the changes that might be taking place in the new hymnbooks years from now. At first I thought it was just a mistake, but then I got thinking about it and thought it might be intentional. Just curious. I think it’s a lovely change.
Dear Annie,
Family rolls off my tongue much more musically, but really it is my mistake. I literally did not remember it was parents so dear. Thank you for pointing it out. I appreciate that you would say something!
That’s funny. I agree, family feels like a much better flow – so much so that I really wasn’t sure which words were correct! I kept checking a few times just to make sure I wasn’t looking at the wrong line. Haha!
