Workshop video is now available!

Dear friends,

The video of the Bellevue Washington workshop using songs from this year which took place in January is out. We used a student filmer so some of the footage is shaky, but the content is good. Because of that we are offering a discount. Here is the link to buy the video.

This video also includes a Nursery portion with some darling 2 and 3 year olds.

Take care,

Sharla

I have purchased the Bellevue Washington workshop three times now and for whatever reason it’s not downloading properly. It says it’s downloaded and I start watching it and then if I take a break and come back to it it says access denied. The same thing is happening with the digital book I downloaded. My husband is really mad at me for having bought it multiple times. I’m a new primary chorister and I am teaching on Sunday. I want to be prepared and implement the principles you teach because I really like what I see and it’s really important to me, but how can I do that when I can’t even maintain access to either the book or the workshop?

I just sent this on to my Tech guy. He is going out of town tomorrow, but I hope he will get back to you quickly.

Glad we got this taken care of Shawna! Let me know if you need anything else. -Tech Son 🙂

Sister Dance, In the workshop you mention that it is easy to change the key of the songs on lds.org. Will you tell us how and where please?

    • Chelsi

Hi Sally – When you click on a song title in the LDS music library, the page that comes up with the music will have a key signature drop down box at the top. You can click that and transpose up or down to your preference.

Here’s a link with detailed instructions as well (under the paragraph “Music Player”) – https://www.lds.org/music/help?lang=eng

      Good luck! 🙂

    Hello Sharla!
I must be having the same problem as Shawna above. I have ordered the workshop a few times, but have not been able to find it in my email and access it like previous years. I show the receipts in paypal, but my searches come up empty. Please forward my info. to your tech. Thanks so much!!!! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all that I have learned from you!!!

I downloaded the workshop. It is so helpful thank you so much. I am just wondering if you can help me build a supply of the hands on tools. Did you make them or buy them? Also. You gave out lots of handouts at the workshop. Is there a place I can download the handouts? Thank you so much for your video. I used the rhythm sticks and paper plate ideas last Sunday and it was the best singing time I’ve had so far. 🙂

    • Sharla Dance

Did you notice what the topic of the handouts were? I would love to send them to you.

I bought the March video on the 23rd and watched it some then went back to watch again and I couldn’t download it. So I paid again on May 2nd since I couldn’t get it to play. Any chance of a refund?

    • josh

I refunded the 2nd purchase and resent you the receipt for the first. Thanks! Let me know if you need anything else.

    Sharla,

I purchased the workshop and had watched about half of it when my computer crashed and I lost it. Is there anyway I can get access to be able to finish watching it?

Also, thank you so much for the sharing the workshop and all the teaching ideas. I love using your ideas and improving my teaching skills.

I was just put in as primary music leader and have almost finished your workshop which is super helpful. In it you talk about teaching a song with three activities per song. Do you do those three activities on the same day using other songs in between or do one activity with the song one week and then a different activity for that same song the next week and so forth?

    • Sharla Dance

One of the principles that science teaches us is that you need to be actively involved with a song for about 5 to 7 minutes, then you will need to have another experience with the song after you have slept. Primary is perfect because it comes every week. Do one activity of 5 to 7 minutes with the song one week, then the next week, do a different activity with the same song. It really cements the song into the memory and the children have several different memory hooks from the different activities to remember the song!

Sister Dance thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents with us. I bought the 2018 workshop video today but my receipt did not email.

    • Sharla Dance

Dear Wendy, I’m so sorry I haven’t gotten back to you. I started a regional children’s choir in August and it’s been a whirlwind since then. I just sent your info to my tech guy. Thanks for letting me know.

  9. Penny

Help please! Purchased the workshop but can’t download or stream it. Have tried multiple times. Sounds like a similar issue that others have been having. Thank you!

    • Sharla Dance

Hi Penny, what happens when you try to download or stream it? My son asked for more info so he can help you!

  10. Rachael Richards

Hi, I tried to purchase the workshop video. I entered all my payment info etc, but when I click pay nothing happens. Please help – thanks!

    • Sharla Dance

Dear Rachael, I just sent your info and request on to our tech guy so that he can help you get the video! Take care, Sharla

    • Sharla Dance

Hi Rachael, I just tried to email you but iCloud said it was blocked.

Are you using Chrome or Firefox? I just tested it on Chrome and it works when you click the Buy this button.

  12. Aubrey Johnson

Hi Sharla. I’m looking for some information on having you potentially come visit our stake with the changes approaching us this new year. I would love for you to contact me if you can. Thank you!

    • Sharla Dance

      Dear Aubrey,
I would love to come visit. I sent you an email to get things started.

  13. cari

    Dear Sharla,

THANK YOU! for these wonderful resources and your example of how to lead. I feel like my mind has been expanded and opened to so many more possibilities with teaching primary music. I’m also interested in receiving information on how to have you potentially come visit our stake regarding these new changes. How do I go about that process?

    Thank you!

    • Sharla Dance

Hi Cari! I would love to come to your stake. You will need to talk to the Stake Primary president who then asks the Stake President to get Priesthood approval. He calls my stake president. We then work out some dates. Depending on how far you are from where I live, it would be great if we could find someone who would not mind donating some air miles to cover my flight. Thanks for asking!

  14. Amie

    Hi Sharla,
I ordered your video, but wanted to ask about sharing it. As the Stake Primary President, can I give the video to the wards in my stake? Or should I have each ward buy a video? Thanks!

    • Sharla Dance

Hi Amie, We only sell the videos to pay the videographers and the editors. I would love your wards to see it. Hopefully it worked out. We are going to video the coming workshop this Saturday in Logan. I’ll post when it is edited.

  15. Joan Thompson Harris

Hi Sharla. I’m still waiting to hear about your 2019 workshop video. Any idea when it will be available?
